Over the last quarter century, Detroit’s own Joseph “Amp” Fiddler has quietly built up, arguably, one of the richest and most diverse legacies in all musiciandom.

In addition to being J Dilla’s first musical mentor, the virtuoso multi-instrumentalist has also shared stages and studios the world over with everyone from George Clinton to Primal Scream. Not bad at all for a guy who started out as a keyboardist.

Along the way, he’s also developed an ever-evolving, idiosyncratic sound that’s as rapturously rhythmical as it is soulfully eclectic. On Friday June 9th, he’ll be playing his first Newcastle show – in support of his latest record, Motor City Booty – and it promises to be an evening of booty-shaking grooves, funked-out vibes and mellifluous harmonies.

So, regardless of the weather or general election results, head down to Hoochie Coochie and get yo’ dance on with one of the coolest cats to ever rock a crowd. ‘Nuff said!
