MUSIC Bat Sabbath @ O2 Academy, Newcastle
Thrashy punks Cancer Bats pay tribute to the hugely influential Black Sabbath, with a set of tracks from the heavy metal heavyweights.

Tuesday 20th June
MUSIC Martha Reeves & The Vandellas @ Georgian Theatre, Stockton
The soul legends head to Stockton this week, belting out hit after hit from an incredible back catalogue, in a show that’ll get you dancing in the street all night long.

Wednesday 21st June
ART & LIT WRITE Festival @ The Word, South Shields
The first WRITE Festival is coming to The National Centre for the Written Word in South Shields from Wednesday until Sunday 25th June, as a line-up of award-winning writers share their experience and expertise.

Thursday 22nd June
STAGE Peter Pan @ Northern Stage, Newcastle
JM Barrie’s endearing tale of the boy who wouldn’t grow up comes to Stage 1 this year. Whisked away to Neverland, Wendy, Michael and John enter a world of magic and mischief where Peter Pan’s arch enemy Captain Hook lies in wait.

Friday 23rd June
FILM The Graduate @ Tyneside Cinema, Newcastle
Dustin Hoffman, in a star making performance lives out every young man’s fantasy as he plays a disillusioned college graduate who finds himself seduced by a bored housewife in the fiftieth anniversary of this classic film.

Saturday 24th June
COMEDY Mr Shindig’s Comedy BBQ @ The Stand, Newcastle
Comedians, musicians, DJs, prize draws, food, beer, sunshine (hopefully) and a whole lot more as The Stand host a very special event on Saturday. With comedian Joby Mageean doing a run around various gigs in the North East on Saturday, it all starts at The Stand as he and fellow host Hal Branson introduce some top acts.

Sunday 25th June
MUSIC Madison’s Thread @ Empty Shop, Durham
With two critically acclaimed albums under their collective belt Maddisons Thread are making their presence felt on the live circuit with bluesy, acoustic sounds.
