Stuck for something to do in the next seven days? We aim to have you covered with an event a day for the next week, all across the region. This time around we have comedy for Valentine’s Day, a unique film festival, blistering music and a whole lot more…

Monday 13th February
FILM MiLAN Film Festival @ Newcastle University Medical School, Newcastle
A week long event starts today, with screenings of films that will explore the role of love in health and mental well-being, and the selection of Still Alice, WALL-E, Amour, Untouchable and Life, Animated are all great choices.

Tuesday 14th February
COMEDY Long Love Comedy @ Jumpin’ Jacks’, Newcastle
There’s a Valentine’s special for Long Live Comedy this week, as they pull in host Si Beckwith and headliner John Whale alongside the usual blend of newer acts and seasoned pros trying new material. Sounds like a nice place for a date, and it’s free, so you’ve got no excuse not to pick your date up a little present first too.

Wednesday 15th February
MUSIC Worriedaboutsatan @ Think Tank? Underground, Newcastle
Spectral electronica from the Yorkshire duo, their distinctive and immersive sounds are building quite the name for themselves, and this should be quite the show.

Thursday 16th February
STAGE Stanza @ The Exchange, North Shields
Poetry fun in North Shields again, as hosts Mandy Maxwell and Harry Gallagher are joined by Tom C, Sandy Alex Davidson, Sue Miller, R.M. Francis with music from the brilliant Renata and Trev, alongside the wondrous open mic section too.

Friday 17th February
MUSIC Dutch Uncles @ Cluny, Newcastle
The varied and brilliantly odd twist Dutch Uncles have on indie guitar music makes them a real stand-out. Their show at The Cluny on Friday should be a smashing start to the weekend.

Saturday 18th February
COMEDY David O’Doherty @ Tyne Theatre & Opera House, Newcastle
The piano playing funnyman (okay, a crappy keyboard from 1986) is the perfect company for a Saturday night out; inventive in the way he plays for laughs, he’s a very unique mind whose silliness just makes you want to get on board.

Sunday 19th February
ART & LIT Winter Wonderland @ Laing Art Gallery, Newcastle
A Sunday stroll around a gallery is a lovely thing, and we recommend this selection of watercolours and more, if nothing else, it’s nicer to be indoors looking at winter than outside braving the cold.

And for something a little different…
We highly recommend comedian Cal Halbert‘s new podcast Let’s Talk. He’s had some amazing guests so far, but his double act partner from The Mimic Men, Alfie Joey, shared some of the best anecdotes you’ll ever hear in the inaugural episode.
