Stuck for something to do in the next seven days? We aim to have you covered with an event a day for the next week, all across the region. This time around we have a ground-breaking documentary film, physical theatre and dance, and heaps of live music!

Monday 2nd November
FILM I Shot Bi Kidude @ Old Cinema Launderette, Durham
A special evening of film and music. The North East launch of Andy Jones’ feature length documentary, I Shot Bi Kidude, which celebrates the extraordinary life of Zanzibarian singer and musical icon.

Tuesday 3rd November
STAGE Dark & Lovely @ Northern Stage, Newcastle
An in-depth look at what it means to be black, British and female, told through Selina Thompson’s exploration of black hair; its politics, its connotations and its history.

Wednesday 4th November
STAGE Ockham’s Razor: Tipping Point @ Dance City, Newcastle
A feat of ground-breaking physical theatre and dance is on offer, thanks to innovative aerial troupe Ockham’s Razor. Five performers take simple equipment and transform them into a rich landscape of images (performance runs until Saturday 7th November).

Thursday 5th November
COMEDY Bad Laughing @ Music Lounge, Stockton
A top notch night of surreal laughs and silliness, featuring turns from Jack Gardner, Sean Turner, Carl B Gillespie, Imp Queens and hosts Heavy Petting.

Friday 6th November
MUSIC Hyde & Beast @ World Headquarters, Newcastle
Specialising in indie, rock ‘n’ roll, ska, punk, Britpop, soul and alternative sounds, club night The Albion present a stonking local music line-up at WHQ. Retro musical maestros Hyde & Beast (pictured) top the line-up, which also features up and coming rockers Hazels and indie band Sun Dance.

Saturday 7th November
MUSIC Trust Fund @ Central Bar, Gateshead
Highly respected DIY band Trust Fund bring their raw and defiant melancholia to Gateshead, with a support cast featuring Bristolians Alimony Hustle, pop punkers T-Shirt Weather, plus a rare live outing for Oliver Catt’s Something project.

Sunday 8th November
COMEDY Soapbox Sessions: Hilarity Bites Takeover @ Hole In The Wall, Darlington
The all-encompassing night where anything goes, Soapbox Sessions have given comedy promoters Hilarity Bites free reign, with a line-up which includes headliner Anthony J Brown, guitar-wielding funny man Rik Carranza, Scott Walker, Jeff Lee and compere Neil Jollie. Open mic slots for comedians as well as poets and musicians are also on offer.
