COMEDY Free Thinking Radicals @ The Stand, Newcastle
Ferocious topical comedy panel show Sod The Tories returns to The Stand for another special this month, with regular host John Scott and guests Cal Halbert, Stewy Robz and Joby Mageean. As well as sticking it to the Tories, there’ll be cause for celebration too as the re-election of Jeremy Corbyn will be sure to get lots of mentions.
Tuesday 27th September
STAGE Nuketown @ ARC, Stockton
What would you do with 205 billion pounds? It’s a huge question that will be pondered in this brand new, inventive piece of theatre. Nuketown is a storytelling and protest art project to build a brand new model city from Lego, equal in value to the proposed Trident submarine replacement programme. It’s an epic tale, which Jack Dean invites you to hear, and even to contribute ideas to this brand new city

A quartet of bands bringing some mighty fine music to Jumpin’ Jacks sounds like an ideal Wednesday night to us. The riff-filled and bluesy Fighting Caravans travel up from Leeds, and are supported by two-piece electro goths The Black Sheep Frederick Dickens, the psychedelic Velvoir and captivating alt rock from Fear Of The Ocean.

STAGE Make Do and Mend @ Alphabetti Theatre, Newcastle
Reflecting on childhood, motherhood and marriage, Make Do And Mend is an innovative new play from Changing Relations, telling real life stories of County Durham women who have suffered and survived the trauma of Domestic Abuse. Written in a verbatim format, Make Do And Mend invites its audience to experience first-hand three poignant local stories, in a visually compelling and moving production.

ART & LIT Hidden Civil War @ NewBridge Project, Newcastle
Providing a series of fascinating works right through until the middle of October, Hidden Civil War is bold and ambitious and its launch night on Friday should get things started wonderfully. Live performances from Richard DeDomenici, Dawn Bothwell and Ditte Elly will make sure the perfect tone is set for the exhibitions, talks, performances, street art, films and more that follow.

COMEDY Pete Firman @ The Witham, Barnard Castle
Comedian and magician Pete Firman is to return to the North East this weekend when he brings his new show to The Witham. The UK’s leading comedy magician combines jaw-dropping magic with plenty of laughs as the effortlessly engaging entertainer shows why he’s one of the most sought after in the country.

The curtain closes on another week of awesome culture in the North East with a blistering gig at Pop Recs.
