Monday 22nd August
COMEDY Stand Spotlight – Health @ The Stand, Newcastle
It’s comedy on a theme to kick off the week, and all in aid of the Tyneside & Northumberland branch of mental health charity Mind, They’ve pulled in some incredible comedians, with a focus on comics just starting to break into bigger things, so Amy Gledhill, Christopher KC, Stuart Edwards, Thomas Rackham, Anthony Arnott, Kevin Carr and host Thomas Hind will all be providing carefully crafted sets on the theme of health.

Tuesday 23rd August
STAGE Horror Film: The Musical @ The Majestic Theatre, Darlington
This unique show is a cheeky send-up of some all time classic horror movies, and shows great gratitude to all the terror-filled flicks that influenced it. With everything from songs to demons, and lots and lots of laughs in between, this is sure to be a memorable night. To add to the atmosphere, there are special seats in the “Splash Zone” where you are guaranteed to be covered in fake blood

Wednesday 24th August
MUSIC Jeffrey Lewis @ MIMA, Middlesbrough.
Lo-fi, croaky tales of pure obscure iron give us some midweek music to marvel at in Middlesbrough this week. A whimsical collation of self-deprecating, anti-folk melodies all churned through the beautiful mind of Jeffrey Lewis, for something original and captivating.

Thursday 25th August
MUSIC Silver Apples @ The Westgarth, Stockton
Absolute genuises in the field of psychedelia and electronic music Silver Apples are out on tour, and the influential outfit have a show at The Westgarth in Stockton on Thursday. This s is a unique chance to see founder Simeon Coxe evoke an enchanting vision, having formed in 1967, the wealth of experience will all shape it’s way into a wonderful show.

Friday 26th August
MUSIC Seeing Hands @ Park Hotel, Tynemouth
Friday night fun sees us recommend Tynemouth Surfball in aid of M.E North East in a legendary music night going back 25 years, and this year sees them give a stage to two of the hottest bands in our region as psych pop makers Them Things and the twinkling, melodic indie of Seeing Hands take the stage.

Saturday 27th August
FILM Tetsuo: The Iron Man @ Tyneside Cinema, Newcastle
As part of their Freedom Of ’76 season, celebrating forty years since the birth of punk, Tyneside Cinema are showing Japanese director Shinyu Tsukamoto’s cyberpunk-influenced science fiction tale Tetsuo: The Iron Man, along with a selection of short films from artist and curator of the whole even Graham Dolphin and Richard Kern. A rare chance to see the lasting legacy of punk has on film making.

Sunday 28th August
MUSIC Rhys Patterson, James Leonard Hewitson and Kieran Rafferty @ Cumberland Arms, Newcastle
It’s a special Sunday matinee treat for music lovers at Cumberland Arms this Sunday, as acoustic loveliness will serenade your end to the week, with talented songwriters Rhys Patterson, James Leonard Hewitson and Kieran Rafferty showcasing why they’re all scene as little gems of the North East music scene.
