Monday 18th April
STAGE The Father @ Theatre Royal, Newcastle
It’s opening night for The Father at Theatre Royal on Monday, as renowned actor Kenneth Cranham plunges the audience into the experience of dementia, taking on the role of eighty year old Andre in a challenging play.

COMEDY Punch Drunk Comedy @ Netherton Club, Bedlington
Easily one of the best line-ups of comedy the North East will see this year is pulled together by the folk at Punch Drunk Comedy, as political comic Mark Steel, the brilliantly funny Rob Rouse and one of the next big things Jamali Maddix come to Bedlington in a show held together by local favourite and regularly awesome host Kai Humphries.

Wednesday 20th April
MUSIC Eliza Shaddad @ Westgarth SC, Middlesbrough
The songwriter mixes atmospheric guitars and building rhythms, and has garnered a reputation for her candid, honest live shows; which should make for a captivating gig this Wednesday.

Thursday 21st April
ART & LIT Malcy Duff Live Comic Book @ Culture Lab, Newcastle
Artist Malcy Duff, brings a free comic book workshop open to the general public on Thursday at Culture Lab, talking about and teaching The Dog Walking Technique to create a unique piece of art. It’s all followed by an exhibition and a performance rounds it all out at The Old Police House, Gateshead.

Friday 22nd April
STAGE Opening Skinner’s Box @ Northern Stage
Based on the fascinating book by Lauren Slater, Opening Skinner’s Box features ten great psychological experiments which turn our notions about ourselves upside down, and attempts to make sense of who we are in this brilliantly challenging piece of theatre.

Saturday 23rd April
MUSIC No Cross, Pale Kids, Bonetti, Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaind @ Pop Recs, Sunderland
Saturday sees raw, honest, fast and loud punk come to Sunderland. All four bands have an immense gift for songwriting, and tracks filled with a blistering energy can be expected from an immensely talented quartet of bands.

Sunday 24th April
MUSIC Ellis Rayner, The Shooting Of @ The Vane Arms, Stockton
Following on from the huge success of their inaugural Sunday Special, a different flavour of pop is on show in the shape of the supremely talented Paul Jeans, AKA The Shooting Of. His inventive modern pop is joined local lad Ellis Rayner and his soulful, acoustic talents.
