Stuck for something to do in the next seven days? We aim to have you covered with an event a day for the next week, all across the region. This time around we’ve got emerging comedy, top live bands, foodie fun and the launch of a brand new app.

Monday 10th August
COMEDY Good Grief @ The Stand, Newcastle
Aiming to shine a light on emerging comedy, Good Grief take over The Stand once a month for a rib-tickling night of hilarity. Their mix of four top acts, one hilarious compere and the guarantee of a cracking headliner ensures you’re in for a comedic treat. And all for just £3!

Tuesday 11th August
MUSIC Bangers @ The Central Bar, Gateshead
Cornish three-piece Bangers (pictured) head up a raucous line-up of noisy but tuneful rockers. Bangers are touring the UK to support their latest release, Bird, a punky sprawl of energetic guitars and contempt-filled lyrics. A stonking live act, don’t miss them! They’ll be ably assisted by furious indie-pop rockers The Welcome Party and brand new instrumental duo O’Captain, My Captain.

Wednesday 12th August
FOOD & DRINK Supper Club: Seafood @ Tyneside Bar Café, Newcastle
Indulge yourself with a tasty meal at Tyneside Bar Café, as experienced chefs Steve and Tom introduce you to the best in food and drink from regional suppliers. This evening’s tasty morsels revolve around fish, freshly caught that morning. Beers and wines will be matched to the five-course meal, a steal at a mere £35.

Thursday 13th August
ART & LIT Halsey Burgund on Tributaries @ Laing Art Gallery, Newcastle
Join American sound artist Halsey Burgund as he introduces brand new artwork (and accompanying app), Tributaries. The innovative digital piece is inspired by life on Tyneside during the Second World War, and takes inspiration from first-hand accounts. An immersive soundscape of music and spoken word, Burgund will talk about the development of the project and his career to date.

Friday 14th August
STAGE The Curious Incident Of The Dog In The Night-Time @ Sunderland Empire
Mark Haddon’s extraordinary novel is given an even more extraordinary stage adaptation by the National Theatre. Utilising state-of-the-art visuals and lighting, the thrilling production tells the story of fifteen year old Christopher, whose extraordinary brain leads him on a hunt to find the murderer of his neighbour’s dog. A delight for adults as well as youngsters, it’s a must see.

Saturday 15th August
MUSIC Kubichek!, Minotaurs + more @ The Cluny, Newcastle
Whether you go for the nostalgia of seeing the reformation of Kubichek!, one of the best spiky indie rock bands to come out of the North East for years, for the rare live appearance from South Shields’ melancholic indie popsters Minotaurs, for the amazing new talent on display from fuzzy pop band Canyons, atmospheric folk artist Doc Smith, minimalist songwriter Tape Tree or a special performance from the AutismAble Singers, for whom this gig is in support of, you must go to this gig.

Sunday 16th August
MUSIC Jimmy & The Revolvers @ TSOne, Middlesbrough
If harmony-drenched rock and roll is your cup of tea, Liverpool’s Jimmy & The Revolvers will be right up your street. They promise upbeat and catchy melodies with an impulsive and immersive live show to boot. Joining them will be local quirky popsters Head of Light Entertainment and songwriter Joe Ramsey. Best of all, it’s free!
