We caught up with alt indie noise makers She Drew The Gun ahead of their show at The Cluny on Sunday 26th March, and they had a real treat for us in this newest Bunch Of Fives. Over to you…
After heading back to a gaff after a gig, night out or whatever, sometimes the looming abyss of YouTube can be quite daunting for those under heavy pressure to whip out some boss party stompers. When the ale is flowing and people’s dancing feet are twitching, these tunes are the staples of a She Drew The Gun party mix. Here are our five favourite drunken jams…
Mental As Anything – Live It Up
We hammered this track whilst we were away for Zandari Festa in Seoul, an absolute eighties gem complete with questionable hair, weird dancing and a belter chorus. A big hitter in the SDTG party mix.
The Eagles – One Of These Nights
Sounds like the American rock giants checked out of Hotel California and went straight to Studio 54, The Eagles at a disco on diazepam. Sure to get some drunken cats squealing along to the slacked-out Bee Gees vibes.
Hall & Oates – I Can’t Go For That
What is there left to say about Hall & Oates, masters of the perfectly timed pop stop, this song sounds like good coke. Not to be played too early, this works best when the party is full flow.
Warren G & Nate Dogg – Regulate
We were lucky enough to catch the world premier of the G-Funk documentary during our time at SXSW. This reignited Louisa’s burning ambition to be a fully-fledged gangster rapper and it only took a couple of cocktails for a scouse-tinged rendition to emerge…daily.
Tina Turner – Simply The Best
One for the ladies, time to get your lunge, stomp, fist bump into action and channel your inner Tina. A guaranteed sure-fire singalong hit that will tear up your YouTube DJ set, this tune is gold-plated finale that will be long remembered after the hangover.
