Reliably informed

We caught up with electro alternative pop act Nano Kino to find out a little bit more about sumptuous new track Back Soon, which is released on Friday 21st September.

Sarah:
Back soon is about loss but also the hope that friends come back to you after time. It uncovers the clues when something is wrong and the desire to go back before any mistakes were made. You can love friends like a partner and the loss is the same if not worse.
Musically it lands somewhere between Alvvays and The Beach Boys, both bands write such great melody and harmony that feels close to our sensibilities.

Duncan:
We make our own recordings and the production we use often comes from an amalgamation of records we love. Kevin Parker of Tame Impala and David Fridmann (Mercury Rev, MGMT) are influential , they can make a song feel like it’s from a scorched planet and we like to approach our sound with a mix that’s heady and rhythmical.
We like a minimal approach too and Back Soon incorporates some of the fuzzy driven sonics mentioned and an early 4AD sounding thing, reverb and certain delays on the vocals like on a Cocteau Twins or Melody’s Echo Chamber record.

Nano Kino release Back Soon on Friday 21st September.
