Reliably informed

The last twelve months have had the NARC Magazine pages filled with the best creative talent, so we asked a few of them to be kind enough to share some words on the year coming to a close. Next up, it’s John Edgar, the guitarist in Okay Champ and new project The Dawdler.

So, how was your 2018?
Pretty good. Nothing horrific happened.

What was your best moment?
Cycling around Berlin in the sunshine. Finishing my album. Seeing Fax Machine finish his album.

And your worst moment?
Snapping the tendon in my thumb whilst squeezing my friend’s knee as hard as physically possible. Blotto. Permanent damage. Whoops.

Your favourite band of the year?
Most listened to have been Grouper and Bing & Ruth.

Your favourite song of the year?
Untravel – Rival Consoles.

Favourite TV of the year?
Endeavour. I really enjoyed the Super Bowl too.

Your favourite film?
I’m not much of a cinema goer. I saw WALL.E for the first time and it was just wonderful.

Favourite venue of the year?
Cluny 2. Love the rejig.

What was your favourite gig of the year?
Sam Amidon – Cluny 2. Been a big fan for years. Amazing show. Really intimate. I love him.

And finally, what has 2019 got in store for you?
Hopefully nothing terrible. Releasing The Dawdler, Okay Champ, and Fax Machine (utterly phenomenal) through our own label, Treetrunk. Some gigs. Contentment? That’d be nice.

The first Dawdler single is released on Friday 18th January, with an Okay Champ album to follow on Friday 25th January. The first Fax Machine single then arrives in February.
