Having just released a new double A side single, we caught up with Hussy to find out a bit more…

So, tell us a bit about yourself and what you do?
My name is Sophie and I’m a Pisces who enjoys long walks, deep talks and doing art. I grew up in the middle of nowhere in the North East before moving to Liverpool and then London where I’m based now. I play guitar and sing in my project HUSSY live but play everything myself pretty much on record. I’m also a Sound Engineer and play drums in other projects.

What’s the first record you ever bought?
I think the first cassette i ever bought was a karaoke hits tape at my local Woolworths but the first proper one I remember having an effect on me was Sheryl Crow’s self-titled album. That was huge for me and my subconscious ten year old angst. This also introduced the concept of a tennis racket as a guitar at an early age, thus planting a seed.

What’s your guilty pleasure musically?
I’m a ‘have a faith in your bad taste’ kinda person so I actually don’t believe in musical guilty pleasures too much but late 90s/ early 00s Madonna – her Ray Of Light era and Music album especially. Music is actually one of my favourite albums. Also REM!

Favourite film of all time?
Lost In Translation.

Your guilty pleasure film?
School Of Rock – I can’t help it, it’s still great!

If you could recommend one TV series to binge watch what would it be?
Bojack Horseman all the way! Diane and Princess Carolyn are my girls. I feel like I flit between them as characters everyday.

Your favourite book?
This isn’t my favourite book of all time but Please Kill Me – The Oral History of Punk is great.. or Juliana Hatfield’s memoir I loved when I was younger.

Who or what makes you laugh the most?
General silliness and goofiness!

Who or what makes you sad?
When other people are sad, I soak up feelings! Also global warming and animal cruelty is something in my consciousness a lot.

If you had super power, what would it be?
To undo all the bad things humans have done to the planet!

And finally, you get to play a board game with any three famous people from history, who do you choose and what’s the board game?
Scrabble with… Stephen Malkmus, Kim Gordon, Bradford Cox and then Ariel Pink would gatecrash.
