A big moment of heartbreak for the North East music scene in 2018, was the passing away of much-loved musician Aran Glover. A celebration of his life and legacy fronting the band We Are Knuckle Dragger and other musical projects has been organised to take place at Cluny 2 on Saturday 12th January.

All funds will be donated to the local charity If U Care Share Foundation (IUCSF), who provide support around the prevention of suicide and to promote positive mental health in and around the North East of England. The charity was established to bring awareness of the issues around suicide and to deliver services to support those affected by it.

The bands involved have pulled together to honour the life and memory of a key part of our region’s music scene, and John Davies from Dunes tells us more about Aran Glover.

Aran’s music in WAKD was some of the freshest sounding material to come out of the North East. When they first started and all the praise and hype directed towards the band was well deserved and its great to see they went on to do amazing things in their time together

Outside of his solo output and work with WAKD, he was a great drummer and had a brilliant ear for melody and composition which helped influence all of those around him.

Helping to raise awareness of mental health issues and the chance for the North East music Scene to give Aran the send off he deserves.

The Aran Glover Tribute Show is at Cluny 2, Newcastle on Saturday 12th January.
