Reliably informed

Ahead of their show at The Westgarth in Middlesbrough on Saturday 1st October, we caught up with Meadowlark and they told us some of the things they adore most about being all round awesome music makers.

Our Favourite Festival
The festival people always assume we’ll pick is Glastonbury, as it’s without a doubt our biggest festival to date, but our favourite festival is actually Barn On The Farm. It was the first festival we ever played as a band and throughout the years they have invited us back countless times to perform. It’s such a beautifully intimate festival, rather than 80,000 strangers you instead have a community of friends, you see the same people each day, it’s wonderful.

Favourite Tour Moment
Our first ever time in Paris last year had something about it that we will never forget. We’d just signed our record deal and about to play to a room full of people… and somehow Dan had made it into the country without his passport, the whole thing felt like a surreal dream but we had so much fun.

Favourite Tour Song
For a short while we used to gather around before each show and sing the chorus to James Blunt’s Bonfire Heart… harmonies ‘n’ all. We are still yet to replace that gem with something of equal measure.

Favourite Tour Meal
We could write a fucking book on this. Other than music, food is the foundation of this band. Mexican is always a go-to, when you’ve been cooped up in a van all day, nothing beats a heavy burrito. We are also partial to just about everything else…

Favourite Venue To Play
This question had us stumped, we’ve played some incredible venues over the years including Shepherds Bush Empire, Koko, Bristol Academy etc but our favourite venue was probably Bournemouth O2 Academy. It has the feel of a theatre with huge balcony’s and a massive floor space, I just remember looking out when whilst we played and being in awe of the venue.
