Middlesbrough’s alt-rockers, EMU are a relatively new band on the scene, however in the short time they’ve been together they’ve developed a sound that is punchy, catchy and uncompromising. On Friday 28th February they release their brand new single Walk Of Shame (available here) and ahead of its release the Teesside four-piece become the first band to do our new feature, Dream Show, where they tell us what their perfect show would be if money was no object and reality wasn’t a factor.

Our band has played a lot of top shows in the short time we have been around however one always comes out on top as the best. This show was our EP (Emotionally and Mentally Unstable) release show held last year at the Cluny 2 and ever since we have been trying to better it, which got us thinking what would be our dream show?

To make it easier for ourselves let’s assume we are ruling out festivals (although a cheeky headline slot at Leeds wouldn’t go amiss) and let’s also assume we are headlining. This leaves us with two more concerns, the venue and lineup.

Now our first important choice is the venue, since money is of no issue in this scenario we could just choose a massive venue such as Utilita Arena or 02 Academy. However, at this point in time, the thought of a smaller packed out venue where people are just having a good time interacting with the band and the music seems much more enticing. Therefore venue wise a sold-out show at think tank would suit perfectly. Think Tank has a special place in our hearts due to the fact we have seen so many class bands play there so it seems fitting to hold our dream show there as well.

Now we move onto the supports. Again in this scenario, we could just have some of our favourite massive bands (Foo fighters, Arctic monkeys, Sam Fender) come down and blow the roof off, but as we like to think this dream show is sold out anyway why not bring some friends along for the ride? Our dream lineup would be GF Bruce Band, NICE GUY, Swears and us. It’s worth pointing out that we have no right to headline over any of these bands but we’re hoping they’d do us a solid on this one.

Aesthetically wise we wouldn’t be too fussy perhaps a nice backdrop with our logo plastered on it or even the lineup of the gig. We might even go crazy and have a neon sign flashing behind us but even in this dream gig scenario that would be a pipe dream. The night itself would be full of drinking, dancing, singing and overall having a good time as a musical community. Perhaps one day we will have the pleasure of playing arenas but for now, our goals are set on small sweaty rooms with broken toilets.
