Singer-songwriter and folk-rock icon Don McLean will be stopping off in the North-East as part of his current transatlantic tour and performing at Middlesbrough Town Hall on Thursday 29th August. The country star is one of the most prolific songwriters of our time, with over 40 gold and platinum records worldwide. He, of course, is the man who gave us American Pie (officially crowned the fifth greatest song of the 20th Century) along with other hits such as ‘Crying’, ‘Vincent’ (Starry Night), ‘Castle in the Air’ and ‘And I Love You So’.

Speaking about his forthcoming show on Teesside, Don McLean, said: “I am always excited about returning to England. It’s like a second home to me and has been for 50 years. I’ve toured every highway and byway and I’ve loved it all. At this point in my career, I tour with a four-piece group from Nashville who have been with me for many years.

The main support act on the night will be of the UK’s brightest female singer-songwriters and London Palladium favourite, Lauren Ray. To date, she has released one album, two EPs and supported artists such as Rebecca Ferguson, Anastacia and Paul Carrack on their tours. Her unique but catchy melodies and lyrical depth have seen her seen her receive numerous radio plays and critical acclaim from the UK press.
