There’s a glorious celebration of ever popular crime literature returning to Newcastle, as Newcastle Noir is back at The Lit And Phil. It’s in the usual May Bank Holiday weekend slot of Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th April, and is surely up there with the record for most crime authors in one place!

For anyone who loves a bit of crime reading, or any authors budding to immerse themselves in what they love, there’s a litany of incredible minds there that you’ll really want to listen to. With a geographical spread of Geordies, Germans, through Nordic, Tartan and domestic noir too, there’s so much covered. While other panels tackle LGBTQ, children’s crime and action thriller. There are also talks, walks and workshops.

The fringe events have already started and the festival is launched on Friday 28th April by Denise Mina. Twice winner of the Theakstons’ Old Peculiar Crime Novel of the Year, Denise was welcomed into the Crime Writers’ Association in 2014. Her latest book The Long Drop is a psychological thriller based on the case of Scotland’s first serial killer.
