Aussie duo DZ Deathrays’ third album, and their first with Alchopop! Records, is Bloody Lovely in name and nature. Built on a raucous backbone, it’s party thrash that has matured.

Opener Shred For Summer sits between a festival anthem and Zeppelin’s Immigrant Song, drum-driven with ballsy riffs and a catchy chorus. Melodic bangers with heavy undertones is a theme throughout, while Guillotine and Back_Forth smack of classic Deathrays with a choppy garage goodness.

A mix of clean poppiness and rockier effects and reverb juxtapose as Shane’s screamy tones show a softer side too, as evidenced on Over It – a personal favourite. Put simply, Bloody Lovely was made to throw yourself around to.
